Perfect Jeans - 5 Tips on How to Find Them

PERFECT JEANS - 5 TIPS ON HOW TO FIND THEM

Oh, the joy of putting on a pair of perfect jeans that actually make you look slim and trim. Finding said denim - one that shapes and flatters to create a nice lean look - can feel like searching for fashion's Holy Grail. And while we agree that assessing which clothes to wear for your particular body shape can be daunting, the challenge of finding the right jeans can be broken down into five helpful tips. Here they are:

  • Fabric Support: Lycra or Spandex are key to providing support and hiding some imperfections. It will literally "hold you in" and smooth out your silhouette creating the effect of long lean legs (and this is why we love perfect jeans, right ladies?). This fabric will also prevent sag and contour your butt to create a lifting effect. (Levi's 545 low-rise jeans are great for this as are many of J Brand's offerings, if you want to spend a little more.) "The most important thing is finding the right fit for you," says Michael Griffin, Executive Vice President of Product at Lucky Jeans Brand. "Don't be afraid of a 'skinny' fit; you don't have to be slim to wear skinny jeans."
  • Waistband Placement: The waistband should hit below the belly button and should be stretchy. You should feel support but it should not pinch or trigger spillover. "The key to avoid muffin top is to avoid wearing jeans that are WAY too tight," says Nate Freeman, Creative Director Of 4 Stroke, the indie rock n' roll-inspired label worn by the likes of Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning. "If you are on the short side and have curves avoid super tight skinny jeans because they will make you look shorter and wider in the middle. Wear a slimmer straight leg in a dark wash."
  • Avoid "Whiskering" and "Fading": "Whiskering" is the treatment applied to denim in which faded lines are added in the certain areas (usually the crotch, thighs, knees). Sometimes these lines can accentuate and widen your hips. "Fading" is to be avoided if you are craving a clean look. The denim discoloration will draw attention to unwanted areas (like the thighs and butt) and highlight them.
  • Look for Clean Washes: Whether you chose a light or dark wash (the latter is generally the most flattering across the board), make sure the lines are kept simple. Contrast stitching, embellished pockets, or excessive distress can add volume. "Wash can help create a slimmer look," says Griffin. "Dark washes tend to be more slimming versus lighter washes."
  • Pocket Placement: "This is very important," says Freeman. "In Europe I see lots of jeans with long pockets that come all the way down past the butt, and it looks good on about three people!" When shopping for that coveted pair of perfect jeans, your first instinct is to immediately turn around and look at how your butt looks. Assess the where the pockets hit on your body. The bottom of the pocket should be in alignment with the very top of your thigh. Low pockets will sag or flatten the butt instead of contouring it.

Jeans Tips

Jeans Tips

A pair of good-fitting jeans is the fashion holy grail. Girls, be a diva in denim with my expert jeans advice.
Rule 1. Size Yourself
When it comes to buying jeans, do not be bullied by the size on the label. Jeans will only look truly fabulous if they fit. And remember: your body has to tell you what's in - not fashion magazines and not current trends. If Cheryl Cole is doing flared jeans, then let Cheryl go off and do them: they are brilliant for her shape. You, my darlings, have to find the jeans that are brilliant for yours.
Rule 2. Avoid Too Much Stretch
Too much elastic can make your jeans stretch an inch too far, especially around the waist and bum area. My advice? Take a good look at the label: any jeans with 2% elastane or under will be a good fit and keep your jeans - and you - looking red hot, honey! The trick is to get the right fitting jeans without the need for stretch.
Rule 3. Look at the Pockets
Pay close attention to pockets, ladies: they can make a phenomenal difference in the derriere department.

If you want to create a curvy J-Lo effect (and who wouldn't?), look for jeans with a button-down pocket, as they will 'lift' your behind. Pocket seams that draw down into a point will give added definition to the buttocks and so are good for bootylicious babes. Bigger pockets are also a good butt-balancer for you.
Rule 4. Buy Several Pairs
We all have two personalities - I've got Downtown Gok and Uptown Gok - and so it is with jeans. If you are a denim diva and they are the essence of your style, I'd recommend that you have two pairs in your wardrobe. Yes, we all have faves that we love to dress up and dress down, but you don't want to wear one pair to death. Think about getting two pairs in different cuts.
Rule 5. Find a Good Alteration Service
Alterations, alterations, alterations!

They're a fashionista's best friend. It's tempting just to stick with hems at the length they were when you bought them, or to leave legs bagging round the thighs because they fit you at the waist, but jeans alterations usually only cost a few quid and I can’t tell you how much they will ramp up the revamp factor.

Tips on Buying Authentic Dolce & Gabbana Jeans

Tips on Buying Authentic Dolce & Gabbana Jeans

The brand Dolce & Gabbana dates back to the year1985. The joint owners of the brand, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have been creating lines of innovative jeans along with other products, which have been thoroughly appreciated. Owning D & G jeans is definitely something to flaunt but what if your Dolce & Gabbana jeans is not authentic and is of poor quality? Not only is it a waste of money but the longevity of the jeans is also questionable. To avoid such an incident to happen, one must be extra careful while purchasing a Dolce & Gabbana creation.

If you are buying your Dolce & Gabbana jeans online, you must be extra careful about the brand label considering that the cyber world is quite volatile. When you are browsing through categories, ensure that the vendor has pictures of lots of products; all product must have enough photos to match its description, like the front view, back view, side view and picture of the rear pockets. If this is not found, there is a good chance that the vendor is trying to hide information. Try to avoid these websites even if it mentions the word “authenticity” thousand times in its website.

D & G jeans are very expensive. They are in the range 250 USD to over $1000. If a vendor is selling jeans at an unbelievable price, there are high chances of it to be not genuine. Every business is running after profit, it can never manage to sell a pair of jeans at an astoundingly low price.

The buttons of Dolce & Gabbana jeans shall always contain the name of the brand. Even the zippers may contain the label. Generally, on the back of the jeans there is a label of the brand, which is done up in metal, leather or embroidery. Always look out for these to check authenticity. Fake jeans will have blank buttons and zippers.

An original D & G jeans is always manufactured with care. If you just turn it inside-out and check out the stitches, you will know what authenticity means. All stitches are very clean; in the pocket area, many layers of stitching are done. This is rare sight to see in fake Dolce & Gabba jeans. Moreover, all jeans contain tags inside the jeans with specifications on how to wash it, etc; a hologram of the brand Dolce & Gabana should be present in these tags. If it wears off like a sticker, you can be sure that it is not authentic.

Many people do not mind wearing fake D & G jeans only because they wish to follow their favorite rock stars. It should be remembered that these unauthentic Dolce & Gabbana jeans can be manufactured with poisonous chemicals causing irritation and infection to the skin. If you have to wear a D & G jeans creation, buy it during discounts. Obviously, authentic jeans cannot be very cheaply priced, but still it would be considerably less. Always keep away from fake creations.

HOW TO HEM JEANS PROFESSIONALLY- NEW TIPS

HOW TO HEM JEANS PROFESSIONALLY- NEW TIPS

HERE'S A FEW TIPS YOUR MOTHER NEVER TOLD YOU ABOUT HEMMING DENIM JEANS. ONCE YOU HAVE MASTERED HEMMING, YOU CAN CHARGE YOUR FRIENDS & CLASSMATES $10-$12 AND MAKE LOTS OF EXTRA MONEY. I AM SKIPPING THE BASIC INSTRUCTIONS AS OTHERS HAVE DESCRIBED THEM NICELY.PLEASE READ A FEW OF THEM FIRST

INSTRUCTIONS

    • 1
For beginners, use an old pair of jeans as practice so you don't ruin your new jeans.
    • 2
Always wash & dry new jeans at least 3 times before hemming. They do shrink.
    • 3
Look at the original hem & take measurements if necessary. Jeans usually have a half inch finished hem.
    • 4
If you must stop during stitching, always leave the needle in the down position.
    • 5
Use a #18 needle. Load your bobbin at least 1/2 full of the heavier gold jean thread, as well as threaded in the sewing machine.
    • 6
Use the cut off hem for testing & setting your tension & getting the correct stitch length, usually a #4 length. Stitch on the RIGHT side, NOT the underneath side. This is different than you are used to.
    • 7
Once you have initially pinned up your new hem line & checked that it is even, steam press & baste on the foldline with red thread. Do NOT remove this until you are done. If you have to redo the hem, this gives you your original fold line
    • 8
Before cutting, set & use the metal gauge slide bar. This will assure that the hem is cut even all around. Cut 1" below the fold line on one layer at a time.
    • 9
Once you have turned under the hem ½" to the foldline and ½" again, pin hem generously underneath horizontally then hand baste with red thread very close to the top edge, about 1/8" down. The extra time spent will be worth it. Remove pins & steam press again.
    • 10
Instead of backstitching at the beginning and end, lift the foot and rotate the fabric with the needle down. Stitch over 2 or 3 of the previous stitches. Backstitching makes smaller stitches than forward stitching. Now your stitches will all look the same. Details to follow....
    • 11
Remove the machine arm, if you have one. With the RIGHT side up, place the hem under the foot 1/2" behind the center leg seam & a "hair" to the left of your basting line. Hand lower the needle. Lift the pressure foot & make 2 to 3 stitches away from the center seam. Leaving the needle DOWN, lift the foot again. Rotate the hem, lower the foot and continue with stitching next to the basting line. At the outside seam, SLOWLY turn your wheel by hand to gently force the needle through the fabric. It is thicker at the seam & the stitches may be shorter. Continue to meet the beginning, put the needle down, lift the foot & rotate the hem. Make 2 or 3 stitches over the last 2 or 3. Remove the jeans from the machine, clip threads. Turn over to be sure you caught all of the hem in the stitching. Once you have done this a few times, you'll be comfortable with it.
    • 12
Remove all of the basting threads & press again. You now have professionally hemmed jeans!
